Customer groups
Where: Customers → Customer groups.
Who: customer.group.view to see; customer.group.manage to create; feature Groups.
Groups collect customers for reporting and searching, for example by region or sales channel.
Create a group
| Field | Rule | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Group code (immutable after creation) | Required, up to 50 characters; can't be changed later | NORTH |
| Group name | Up to 120 characters | Northern region |
The Customer groups table shows Code, Name, Description and Active.
Use a group
A customer's group is part of its account (Group ID on the Overview tab). The register's Search
customers matches group code and name, so typing NORTH lists every customer in the Northern region.
A customer can't be placed in an inactive group ("Customer group is inactive").
Customer hierarchy
Separately from groups, a customer can have a parent customer, for example a café chain's head office and its branches:
Rules: a parent can't be CLOSED; a customer can't end up as its own ancestor ("Customer hierarchy cycle"); a parent with children can't be closed ("Customer has child accounts").
