Charity overview

Charity records donors, funds, monetary donations and sponsorship commitments. Finance staff can post money already received, correct its classification and reverse verified duplicate bookkeeping. Sponsorship officers can support a beneficiary by alias, a facility or a programme, and prepare updates for a separate approver.

This guide describes the current application sources reviewed on 7 November 2026. All names, amounts, references and IDs are invented training examples. They are not seeded records or instructions to change a live tenant.

How the work fits together

A donation records an amount. A fund classifies that amount. A sponsorship records a commitment. They are separate records: starting a monthly sponsorship does not create donations, collect money or match receipts to instalments.

Running example

Bright Haven Trust operates BHT-NORTH and BHT-SOUTH. Farah enters donations, Nadia handles approved financial posting, Omar manages sponsorships, and Leena reviews sponsor updates. The trust uses a General Support unrestricted fund and an Education Support restricted fund. Willow-27 is a fictional beneficiary alias; real identity never appears in these sponsorship examples.

The example duties are recommended role designs, not shipped role templates. Your organisation must approve the actual allocation restrictions and income recognition before using these procedures.
