Correct posted classification
Use correction when the actual receipt is valid and the money remains held, but fund or approved accounting classification needs to change. The donation stays POSTED. The existing payment identity stays posted; no money moves and no replacement donation is created.
Allowed and fixed values
| May change through this action | Must remain unchanged |
|---|---|
| Full allocation list, with same exact total | Donation/payment identity and total |
| Income accounts derived from current approved mappings | Donor identity and public-anonymity choice |
| Approved route for the same physical holding/method/unit/currency | Actual receipt date, currency, unit and physical holding |
| Debit account classification, with additional cash-account-correct authority | Receipt evidence and actual money movement |
You need donation view, finance view and charity.donation.correct. A debit-account change additionally needs charity.donation.correct.cash-account. Inactive-unit work needs the additional historical rights and retained unit grant.
Correct a classification
- Open detail and inspect the Current effective allocations, payment and journal chain.
- Choose Correct classification (money remains held).
- Select an eligible active replacement route.
- Enter the complete intended allocation list; every target fund must be active.
- Supply the required private reason (maximum 500 characters) and internal correction reference (maximum 100).
- Generate the preview and compare dates, route/accounts and all replacement splits.
- Select confirmation and choose Confirm correct.
- Reload and verify POSTED, unchanged payment ID, a new revision, increased correction count and effective allocations.
The inverse, replacement and new revision commit in one transaction. Old journal rows and revisions remain evidence. For a second correction, the source is the current effective journal, not the first journal or an inverse.
Numeric example
Original allocation is General 150 / Education 100 on GBP 250. Correct to General 175 / Education 75. The correction reverses the full 150/100 journal and posts the full 175/75 replacement. Net cash recognition remains GBP 250. The allocation difference is +25/−25, but the form requires the full amounts.
Recovery and limits
An alternative route for another bank holding, cashbox, method or unit is refused. This action cannot repair a wrong donor, amount or actual receipt date, issue a refund or transfer physical cash. Refer those cases to the separate approved procedure.
If configuration changes after preview, generate a fresh proposal. If confirmation's response is uncertain, replay the original operation rather than preparing another correction. Keep reasons and private evidence out of shared journal notes and support screenshots.
