Currency precision and receipt dates

Draft storage accepts exact monetary values with up to four decimal places. Financial posting is stricter: donation currency must equal the configured tenant base currency, and every amount must fit that currency's supported minor units without rounding.

Precision examples

Currency and valueDraft precisionPosting precision, assuming this is the configured base currency
GBP 1.2300ValidValid: exactly 1.23
GBP 1.2345Valid four-decimal valueRefused: GBP needs two fractional digits
JPY 500ValidValid whole units
JPY 500.50Valid draft precisionRefused: fractional yen
KWD 1.234ValidValid three-decimal precision
KWD 1.2345Valid draft precisionRefused: needs rounding
Zero or a negative amountInvalidInvalid

The check applies to the total and every allocation. Two overprecise splits are not acceptable merely because their sum has two decimals. Pseudo/unsupported currencies are refused by the relevant validation. No manual FX entry, exchange-rate override or conversion process is provided for Charity posting.

Example: A EUR draft in a GBP-base tenant may remain a valid draft but cannot be posted. Do not relabel euros as pounds to pass validation. Resolve the actual financial treatment through finance's approved process.

Three different clocks

ValueSource and purpose
Actual receipt dateOperator records when the money arrived
Tenant business dateExplicit configured accounting date; used as posting date
Tenant-local todayCurrent date in the configured IANA zone; limits receipt and calendar dates

Posting requires actual receipt date no later than both the business date and tenant-local today. The browser cannot choose an arbitrary journal date. The system does not advance the business date at midnight or infer it from the browser zone.

Date examples and recovery

SituationExpected behaviour
Money arrived 5 November; business date 6 November; local today 7 NovemberReceipt date 5 November and posting date 6 November are permitted if all other checks pass
Receipt date 7 November; business date still 6 NovemberPosting refused; resolve the approved calendar before posting
Receipt date is tomorrow in tenant zoneRefused
Business date changes after previewStale calendar/version conflict; reload and generate a new reviewed preview
Correction after initial postingUses current approved business date and retains original actual receipt date

Fix an overprecise draft explicitly with a reason before posting. A posted wrong actual receipt date or amount is outside classification correction. Record the error and follow the separate approved procedure; do not disguise it as a fund change.
