Activate and find donors
Donors reuse existing Party identity. Activating DONOR adds a role to that Party; it does not create a Partner, customer account or duplicate person/organisation.
Before you start
You need donor view to use the register, donor activation authority for activation and Party view to use its Party picker. Confirm the intended Party belongs to the current tenant and is active. If identity genuinely needs creation or correction, use the owning Party workflow with its own permissions.
Search the directory
Open Charity → Donors, enter a distinctive name in Search donors, choose Search and inspect all result pages. The directory shows Party ID, Display name, Identity type and Status. Confirm the exact record rather than relying on a similar display name.
Activate an existing Party
- Inspect the directory to check whether the donor is already present.
- In Activate an existing Party as donor, search the existing Party picker.
- Select the verified person or organisation.
- Choose Activate selected donor once and wait for the response.
- Recheck the directory and the Party ID before entering an identified donation or sponsorship.

Expected result and recovery
The original Party identity remains the source of name and person/organisation facts. A successful activation makes it eligible for donor workflows subject to active state and normal access checks.
If the picker is unavailable, check Party access rather than typing an unverified numeric ID through another tool. If an activation response is lost, search again before creating anything. If a Party is inactive, resolve its state through authorised identity maintenance; sponsorship and new identified-donation validation still require an active donor.
The current Donors page is a directory and activation screen. It does not provide a donor communication campaign, mailing consent editor, tax declaration process or bulk donor import.
