Confirm or reset the linked journal

The journal page exposes its own state controls under expense.journal.post and expense.journal.reset. These operations delegate to Accounting and return the changed journal. They do not update the whole expense/payment workflow.

Controls and procedure

ControlUse only after review
ConfirmConfirm an eligible draft linked journal through Accounting
Reset to DraftReset an eligible posted journal through its Accounting rules
  1. Verify the expense, journal number/ID, amounts, account lines and related payments.
  2. Agree the intended accounting operation with the authorised finance process.
  3. Choose the specific journal control once.
  4. Reload the returned journal and parent expense.
  5. Inspect related payments and ledger effects independently before any further operation.

What reset does not promise

Reset does not edit expense description/total/tax, clear approval decisions, cancel or reverse payments, recreate liability balances, or implement an expense correction/repost wizard. It is not a refund or a substitute for a documented accounting reversal.

The normal expense post creates a POSTED journal directly. Seeing a Reset control later does not mean an ordinary user should reset and repost that expense to amend its amount. Direct status requests are not a complete guarded state machine; repeated posting can be unsafe without outcome assessment.

Example: An expense journal is POSTED while its payment is still IN_PROCESS. Resetting the journal does not set the expense back to DRAFT or undo the recorded payment counter. The system may now show inconsistent lifecycle labels unless the responsible finance procedure resolves them.

Error recovery

Journal action failures can be presented with little detail in the current component; reload and capture the exact operation/record IDs for support. A missing or failed journal read is not proof it was deleted or that posting should be repeated.

Do not bypass Accounting eligibility checks by calling another route, alter source IDs or manually relink a journal. This guide documents existing controls, not a new supported repair strategy for posted expense errors. Use the approved finance/support process for corrections requiring coordinated ledger treatment.
