Pricing setup checklist

Use this list when asking your administrator to set up or change pricing. Pricing setup is entered by an administrator or support until setup screens are available.

Before selling a new product

  • The product and variant exist in the Catalog.
  • It has a price: a price-list item, or a general BASE_PRICE rule.
  • A TAX rule applies to it (or it is deliberately untaxed).
  • Any surcharge (packaging, personalisation) is set up.

Without a price, the sales order can't be saved: "Base price is not configured. productId=…".

Before trading with a new customer

  • The customer exists, with its currency.
  • A price list exists in that currency (orders in USD ignore GBP lists).
  • Any agreed customer price (BASE_PRICE for the customer) or discount (CUSTOMER_DISCOUNT) is set up.

Running a promotion

  • PROMOTION_DISCOUNT with the products, percentage and Valid from / Valid to.
  • Check it doesn't clash with another promotion of the same products (only one applies).
  • Test: save a draft order dated inside the promotion and read the breakdown.
