Dispatch an order

Dispatching records that goods have left the warehouse. It takes them out of stock.

Where: the order → Dispatch. Who: sales.order.dispatch and the Inventory module.

When can I dispatch?

Hover over the greyed Dispatch button to see why it's not available yet.

Dispatch goods

  1. On the order, select Dispatch.
  2. The Dispatch Sales Order page lists each line:

  1. Enter Qty to Dispatch for each line you're sending (0 or empty for lines you aren't).
  2. Select Dispatch Selected Lines.

The page shows the order's dispatch state: No Dispatch, Partially Dispatched or Dispatched.

"Cannot exceed remaining quantity."You entered more than is left to send.

Partial dispatch: sending in parts

Example: only 6 T-shirts are ready on Monday.

Use View Dispatch on the order to see what's been sent.

What happens to stock

Dispatching takes the goods out of the warehouse's default location. In Inventory you'll see a SALE_DISPATCH movement, and On Hand goes down.

Check the stock afterwards

The stock deduction happens just after the dispatch is saved. If the default location doesn't hold the goods (or has no stock record), the order still shows as dispatched but stock isn't deducted. After dispatching, check Inventory Balance and Stock Movement.
